For this project, Visualabs took on the role of Strategic Partnership Partner, helping HYAS connect its curatorial vision with some of the most significant names in Indonesia’s beauty history. Rather than treating partnership as a supporting layer, we approached it as part of the exhibition narrative itself, bringing brands with genuine historical significance into HYAS’ exploration of Indonesian beauty heritage. The collaborations provided access to decades of brand history and archival collections, helping HYAS create a richer dialogue between Indonesia’s beauty past, its present industry, and the generations shaping its future.

HYAS: Makeup Through the Ages
HYAS: Makeup Through the Ages is an exhibition dedicated to the past, present, and future of Indonesian beauty. Held at SPAC8, ASHTA District 8, Jakarta, the exhibition brought together more than 350 makeup artifacts, vintage publications, rare books, and archival stories tracing the evolution of Indonesia’s beauty culture across generations. Visualabs facilitated the involvement of two of Indonesia’s pioneering beauty houses — Sariayu Martha Tilaar and Mustika Ratu — whose decades-long histories are deeply intertwined with the development of the country’s modern beauty industry. By bringing together HYAS’ curatorial perspective, historic beauty brands, and a shared commitment to preserving Indonesian heritage, Visualabs helped transform partnership from sponsorship into an integral part of the exhibition storytelling.
